The Criterion Collection found this to be a poor decision on the part of Mayor Bing, and so did I. This is something that needs to happen, if only for all of the much-needed attention it will bring to Detroit. Mayor Bing may have passed on the idea, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a good one, or at least one that deserves better than a dismissive tweet. Or maybe a homeless shelter. There are plenty of symbols of hope in Detroit, what we need is action, not another statue. 50,000 dollars could go a long way in making Detroit a better place. Why in the world would you want to spend it on something like that? It actually really disgusts me.
